the brain exposed from above

Today I met a man who flew a b-24 bomber in world war II. He flew 18 missions until two of his engines were shot out over Berlin. He flew around Germany until he landed in a field. He slept on the ground, trying to evade German troops for 10 days.

Somehow, listening to this man’s story, all the cynicism growing in me with the advent of the election season melted away and all I felt was awe.
